rolling along

My friend gave me some plywood tondos and I finally have discovered something that works in a round format!
Unfortunately my camera does not read reds very well, so you will have to imagine a little more subtlety than is apparent here:

acrylic and mixed media on canvas
24" diameter approx.

Using fabric for collage is great - certain problems of colour and texture are already half-solved! The flower stems are made with coloured embroidery thread. In fact this whole experiment is just like embroidery and fabric applique, only I'm using acrylic medium and a painted canvas ground.

This one's still in progress - I am really liking the colours so far. It's maybe 30" diameter.

Snow Ball
acrylic on 2 canvases
7 x 7" each

Happiness Is
acrylic on 3 canvases
8 x 8" each

So here are all the little paintings I've made so far in this style - looking quite cozy all together on the table!

Tomorrow I package them up and ship them out to Terra Cotta Gallery in the small rural town of Black Diamond, Alberta. I think they may go over quite well there, wish me luck!
