corner studio

Inspired by Cina's post, I have cleared a corner of our basement and made an art corner. Thought I could do some acrylic painting at home while I'm taking a break from the studio.
Hahaha, "break" huh. Just can't seem to stop painting.
The great thing about the acrylic works are that I'm not selling them! Well, not yet. Maybe some day. But for now it's lovely to just do whatever I please with no thought that a gallery curator will be judging the saleability of the results.

Still needs better lighting and maybe an old rug to protect the floor, but I can work with it for now.

I was making paper snowflakes and made a too-long cut in one, resulting in 4 corners being chopped right out. Lo and behold the corners looked like flowers! So I painted them red and adhered them to 4 little wood panels. Then cut and painted the smaller shapes to look like buds. Gold stems and curly fronds, and now.... something more, I think. Just wait.

Then I had a little 10x10" flower painting which I never really liked all that much, so I painted over it:

Fun with metallics and interference colours - Merry Christmas!

inklings

Trying some flowers things with ink on rice paper.
The idea had me excited a couple of days ago, but when I finally made it into the studio it was hard to get back to that excitement. The idea is to adhere them onto wood panels. But the ink paintings have to be lovely enough to warrant that effort.
Not sure what I think of these now. Maybe try again later.
